About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Traffic Engineer to be based in New York, New York. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027. AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York on October 15th and 16th. This event is an opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027. The event includes a networking mixer on Thursday evening and interviews on Friday at their New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering preferred.
  • FE Certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data manipulation.
  • Perform traffic and capacity analysis on roadway networks.
  • Perform traffic analysis on roadway networks using transportation planning/engineering software (HCS, Synchro, simulation, etc.).
  • Prepare written documentation of NEPA/SEQRA/CEQRA Transportation results in support of client projects.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support moving projects from concept/preliminary alternatives into design, or document operational enhancements.
  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Conducts planning analysis and engineering conceptual design under the supervision of an experienced traffic engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
