About The Position

Parsons is seeking an early-career Traffic Engineer to join their expanding business. This role involves working on significant civil engineering projects and offers opportunities for advancement. The ideal candidate will be versatile, enthusiastic, and possess exceptional communication, analytical, and management skills, thriving in a flexible, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities include conducting traffic operations and safety studies for various infrastructure projects, assisting in the design of traffic engineering plans, and supporting field studies and report preparation. This position can be based in Kentucky or Tennessee with a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or related field)
  • 3-7 years of work experience conducting traffic engineering/transportation planning
  • Experience using traffic engineering / CAD software such as Synchro / HCS/ MicroStation
  • Completed college coursework in transportation and traffic engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excel in working in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Some work experience, internships, or co-ops related to traffic or transportation engineering strongly preferred
  • An Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred
  • Working Knowledge of traffic simulation software such as Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and Synchro preferred
  • Working Knowledge of CAD software such as MicroStation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic safety principles and procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of traffic engineering duties and may be developing in other sub-disciplines of transportation engineering such as highway and urban engineering.
  • Responsible for the development of traffic engineering studies, computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, field studies/traffic surveys, and designs.
  • Under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories and practices, develops the creation of traffic engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.
  • Performs various traffic engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program, and available data in the engineering field.
  • Performs traffic engineering field work activities as needed.
  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
