About The Position

As a Traffic Design Engineering EIT, you will be working with our seasoned team of Engineers and Project Managers to develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation improvements. Our projects enhance safety and efficiency for multi-modal transportation, including vehicles, bicycles & pedestrians, and transit (Light Rail and Bus Rapid Transit). Engineers at DKS keep up to date with current industry best practices and agency standards to develop practical, creative solutions that balance the needs of all project stakeholders. The goal of this position will be to gain experience in delivering practical engineering design projects. As your career progresses at DKS, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in project management, become a technical expert, and/or focus on business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or similar field
  • Recent experience or coursework in Transportation and Traffic Engineering
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform self-review of work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem solver with the ability to exercise critical thinking
  • Interest in traffic engineering design

Nice To Haves

  • EIT Certification desired, but not required
  • Software experience desired, but not required: AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, AGI lighting analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Gaining experience working on a variety of traffic engineering design projects under the guidance of expert team members
  • Developing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for roadway lighting, traffic signals, signal interconnect/fiber optic communications, permanent signing and pavement markings, and temporary traffic control plans
  • Performing roadway lighting analysis and traffic operations analysis
  • Going out in the field to verify condition of existing traffic systems (Signals, Signing, Lighting, etc) and observe traffic operations
  • Providing engineering support during construction
  • Opportunity to experience projects in transportation technology, safety, planning, and operations
  • Working on significant projects across the west coast and in your own community
