Position Summary: JMT's Washington DC Traffic Team is seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to be responsible for engineering design, analysis, and studies using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments. JMT’s Washington DC office is a fast-growing and dynamic office involved in major projects in Washington DC and the surrounding areas. The selected candidate will work with a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers on exciting, multimodal transportation projects. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks in the traffic engineering field through application of relevant design criteria, standards, and processes
  • Prepare traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting, and ITS design plans
  • Prepare maintenance of traffic (MOT), transportation management plans (TMP), and detour plans for design projects
  • Develop construction cost estimates and specifications
  • Perform traffic safety and traffic analysis studies
  • Perform traffic analysis using software such as Synchro
  • Conduct multimodal studies including bus, pedestrian, and bicycle studies
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan project
  • Perform field reviews of traffic operations
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
