Basic Function Acts as a liaison between different areas in an organization. To execute and support paperwork & system controls for domestic shipping and receiving. Responsible for obtaining competitive, consistent and reliable transportation capacity, including but not limited to FTL, LTL and Rail. To route trucks in coordination with buyers in the most cost efficient and timely manner for delivery into the facility. This includes pickup and delivery information, loading time and locations, directions to locations and freight information. May be required to cover, or be trained to cover, import and export shipments. To prepare shipping documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; to check shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, etc. for accuracy; may be required to calculate, or be trained to calculate, the value of duties and tariffs due on transported goods. To perform this job successfully, an individual shall be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the logistics field. This position relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The qualified candidate is required to perform a variety of tasks under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
