About The Position

The Merchandiser II supports the commercial operations of the wheat flour mill through local wheat origination, pipeline management, flour delivery scheduling, and market execution. This role ensures reliable supply, efficient logistics, and timely customer fulfillment while managing risk and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams. The Merchandiser II collaborates with operations, quality, and sales to align production and delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of merchandising, grain origination, or commodity logistics experience.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, commodity trading tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills across commercial, operations, and logistics functions.
  • ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily wheat origination, procurement, and pipeline logistics to ensure consistent supply to the mill.
  • Develop and maintain the weekly flour delivery schedule, ensuring efficient coordination with production, logistics, and customer service teams.
  • Communicate with customers on delivery changes and special requirements, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment.
  • Work with carriers to schedule and track shipments, resolving any transportation or delivery issues.
  • Monitor grain markets, basis levels, and freight trends to identify local buying opportunities and manage position exposure.
  • Coordinate with the Commercial Manager on hedging, contracting, and margin management strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with producers, elevators, carriers, and customers to support long-term supply chain reliability.
  • Analyze supply and demand trends, storage capacity, and transportation constraints to optimize inventory and logistics performance.
  • Support inventory management by monitoring both raw material and finished product levels to ensure alignment with production plans.
  • Provide operational and commercial reporting, including position summaries, contract balances, delivery performance, and cost metrics.
  • Act as a liaison between commercial, operations, and logistics teams to ensure alignment on production and delivery plans.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
