Traffic Control Technician
About The Position
STOP is a professional traffic control company dedicated to keeping traffic safe during road work. As a traffic control technician, you will work as part of a team that diverts traffic away from the work area. You will often be expected to help control traffic and sometimes assist with the ongoing work at the jobsite. As part of a team, you must create a safe work zone that ensures that traffic stays out of the way of the workers. This involves setting up cones and safety barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tells traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic-control technicians must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them.
Requirements
- Must report to work at the designated start time.
- Must be able to work and communicate with managers and coworkers.
- Must follow directions of the team leader.
- Must be able to set up, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, drums, and barricades.
- Must be able to load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle.
- Must be able to drive the company vehicle to and from job sites in a safe manner.
- Must be able to direct traffic by flagging using the sign paddle appropriately after proper training.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies.
- Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must properly follow all company policies.
- Must be able to complete a detailed daily timesheet.
- Must be able to fill out vehicle and radio log book.
- Must be able to ensure that your assigned vehicle is working properly at the beginning and end of each shift by completing daily vehicle maintenance form.
- Must always make sure to take the proper personal protection equipment including vest and hard hat.
- Must be able to report any maintenance problems or safety concerns to the team leader immediately and complete any corresponding forms.
- Must be able to keep company vehicles clean and orderly, making sure all trash is removed at the end of the shift.
- Must be able to perform other work-related duties as assigned, including shop work which may include general maintenance, inventory, and organizing of equipment.
