About The Position

The Traffic Control Technician maintains roadway signs and markings in clear and safe conditions. The position is in the Public Safety, Traffic Operations Department, Signs & Markings Division, and is classified as non-exempt. The role assists with installing and maintaining traffic signs and roadway markings, inspects existing signs and markings for proper placement and repair needs, and maintains equipment used for this work. Other duties may be assigned. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required as scheduled. During major storms or other emergencies, the position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or another schedule needed to meet the City’s needs. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

• One year of related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and roadway markings.
• Inspect existing roadway signs and markings for proper placement and repair needs.
• Maintain equipment used in the repair and installation of traffic signs and roadway markings.
