About The Position
Our traffic control technicians are responsible for setting up safe and compliant work zones and controlling the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through roadway construction using signs and hand signaling devices. Flaggers are responsible for public safety and make the greatest number of contacts with the public of all highway workers. Be part of the safety solution!
Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
- Ability to watch for traffic to protect vehicular traffic, pedestrians, workers and employees
- Ability to receive and communicate detailed instructions clearly, firmly and courteously with both workers and the public
- Ability to move and maneuver quickly to avoid potential dangers
- Ability to maintain focus during stressful or emergency situations
- Reliable transportation
- Availability to work Monday through Saturday
- Ability to work long hours and variable schedules with no restrictions on start or end times
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Setting up safe and compliant work zones
- Controlling the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through roadway construction using signs and hand signaling devices
- Directing traffic through work zones and crossings using signaling devices and hand signals
- Warning workers of dangerous traffic situations
- Lifting and moving equipment
- Performing other duties as needed
Benefits
- Hourly pay starts at $16-$17 hr depending on experience
