About The Position

Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking Flaggers in Irving, TX to join our team. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Duties include but are not limited flagging to provide a safe work zone for all employees working on or near the railroad tracks. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have an understanding of basic mathematics.
• Must be able to work a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work, including being on-call 7 days a week.
• Must possess good communication skills (verbally and written).
• Must be able to judge speed/distances of objects/moving parts.
• Required to make logical choices and/or drawing logical conclusions.
• Complete annual training and pass safety operating rules examination.
• Must pass all required assessments.
• Required to take actions and/or making decisions affecting security/wellbeing of others.
• Must have reliable transportation to go from field office to worksite.
• Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
• Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
• Regularly lift weight up to 20 pounds up to a height of 36 inches.
• Regularly carry weight up to 20 pounds for a distance up to 100 feet.
• Regularly ascend/descend a truck step with a height up to 24 inches.
• Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
• Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
• Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1/2 mile.
• Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
• Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
• Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
• Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable safety and operating rules and federal regulations.
• Shall perform all duties required in connection with the operation of commuter trains.
• Promote safe work practices as well as maintains and fosters a safe work environment.
• Train to become a conductor.
• Duties include but are not limited flagging to provide a safe work zone for all employees working on or near the railroad tracks.
• Notifies proper authorities and prepares reports to explain accidents, unscheduled stops or delays.
• Comply with train orders, train signals, radio communications, and railroad rules and regulations to ensure the safe and efficient operation for track workers and trains traveling through work zones.
• Diagnose minor malfunctions and performs minor maintenance and servicing activities when maintenance personnel are not available.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
