About The Position

AWP Safety is America’s Leading Traffic Management Company seeking Protectors to join their team. As a Protector, you will work with a team at job sites, with no prior experience or degree required. The company emphasizes safety first, providing training and support to help employees build a career. Daily work involves setting up and taking down traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, monitoring traffic and job site activity, following safety rules, communicating with the crew and supervisor, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, with shifts that may change based on job needs, potentially including nights, weekends, or emergency work. Employees may stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift. The company provides safety gear such as a hard hat, safety goggles, a safety vest, a safety whistle, and a walkie-talkie, while employees must provide their own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods
  • Able to lift 40–50 pounds
  • Willing to work in traffic and changing weather
  • Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift
  • Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)
  • Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time
  • Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect

Responsibilities

  • Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
  • Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
  • Following all safety rules taught in training
  • Communicating with your crew and supervisor
  • Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
  • Working outside all year, in all weather
  • Shifts may change based on job needs: Some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required
  • May stand or walk 8 to 12 hours per shift
