JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing administrative support to the traffic function of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and tracking of outbound orders.
  • Responsible for obtaining freight charges for all shipments shipped; prepare paperwork (separate bills of ladings, delivery receipts and stamp date) for the billing department.
  • Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for recordkeeping purposes.
  • Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of material.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Compute amounts, such as space available and shipping, storage, and demurrage.
