About The Position

Provides a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment by refreshing spaces throughout the healthcare system under the direction of a supervisor. Participates in the building management program to deliver high-quality, cost-effective service with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and quality. Supports construction for new builds and refresh projects, including carpentry, flooring installation, painting, and drywall repair. Work is generally performed as part of a team, though independent work may also be required. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• State of Michigan driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, project managers, construction trades, and subcontractors to support quality, timely, cost-effective construction and coordination of services.
• Care for and safely use equipment and supplies, and keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe.
• Perform communication and hands-on construction activities.
• Use tools and measuring equipment related to the area of specialty to perform calculations and measurements.
• Inspect and test apprentices’ finished work and provide mentoring and work direction as needed.
• Document procedures and completed work accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform work in a specialty area, including repair and replacement, layout, demolition, and construction of specialty systems and equipment; this may include estimating and ordering materials and preparing sites for construction, installation, replacement, or repair.
• Review project blueprints for special needs, revisions, or problems and communicate them to the appropriate engineer or designer.
• Ensure services comply with legal specifications, codes, organizational policy, and compliance requirements.
• Plan and coordinate workflow with other trades and serve as a resource on building systems.
