About The Position

The Tradesperson helps provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment by refreshing spaces throughout the healthcare system under a supervisor’s direction. The role participates in the building management program, supporting high-quality, cost-effective service and customer satisfaction. Work includes facilities construction for new builds and refresh projects, such as carpentry, flooring installation, painting, and drywall repair. Most work is performed as part of a team, with some independent work. The average workweek is Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work required of qualified candidates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Valid State of Michigan driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, project managers, other construction trades, and subcontractors to support quality, timely, cost-effective construction and coordinated services.
• Care for, maintain, and safely use equipment and supplies; keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe.
• Perform construction activities and communicate effectively, using specialty tools and measuring equipment to make calculations and measurements.
• Inspect and test apprentices’ finished work and provide mentoring and work direction as needed.
• Document procedures and completed work accurately and promptly.
• Perform work in a specialty area, including repair and replacement, layout, demolition, and construction of specialty systems and equipment; estimate and order materials and prepare sites as needed.
• Review project blueprints for special needs, revisions, or problems and communicate them to the appropriate engineer or designer.
• Ensure services comply with legal specifications, codes, organizational policies, and compliance requirements.
• Plan and coordinate workflow with other trades and serve as a resource on building systems.
