The Lead Carpenter / Cabinet Maker is responsible for overseeing the fabrication of high-quality custom cabinetry, millwork, and exhibit components used in trade shows and experiential environments. This role combines expert-level craftsmanship with leadership, ensuring projects are built accurately, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The Lead Cabinet Maker works closely with Shop Foreman, project managers, detailers, and shop staff to deliver complex custom exhibits on tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional cabinet making or millwork experience / has been able to demonstrate high levels of ability
  • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Strong experience in custom millwork fabrication
  • Proficiency reading shop drawings and CAD-based plans
  • Experience with laminates, plywood, melamine, MDF, veneers, solid wood, and specialty materials etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
  • Availability to work Overtime whenever required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, and finish high‑quality custom cabinetry, millwork, counters, kiosks, display cases, and exhibit components.
  • Accurately interpret shop drawings, CAD files, and design specifications; collaborate with and guide the Detailing team to improve fabrication‑ready drawings.
  • Execute advanced woodworking techniques, including precision cutting, shaping, laminating, and assembly of complex components.
  • Ensure all fabricated elements meet or exceed quality, structural, and aesthetic standards.
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects, maintaining accountability for scope, quality, and deadlines.
  • Lead, mentor, and support cabinetmakers and shop assistants to elevate craftsmanship and efficiency.
  • Delegate tasks effectively based on skill level, workload, and project priorities.
  • Review completed and in‑progress work for accuracy, craftsmanship, and compliance with drawings and direction from the Shop Foreman or Production Manager.
  • Act as a technical expert and problem‑solver for complex fabrication and construction challenges.
  • Promote a collaborative, professional, and safety‑first shop culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and routine maintenance of shop tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
