The Trades Maintenance Worker 1 (TMW1) supports the maintenance and operation of facilities at the University of Oregon’s Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) campus. This position assists with a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic mechanical systems, under the guidance of higher-level staff. The TMW1 provides general support for facilities and grounds upkeep, including assisting with minor repairs, preparing surfaces for painting, moving materials and equipment, pressure washing, landscaping, and debris removal. This position may also assist with furniture and fixture repairs, basic shop support, and classroom or lab setup. Work is performed both independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team, with direction provided by the Facilities Manager or higher-level maintenance staff. The TMW1 follows established procedures and guidelines while developing skills across multiple trades. Daily interactions with faculty, staff, and students occur while responding to maintenance needs and supporting campus operations. Due to the nature of the OIMB campus, work occurs in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to inclement coastal weather and physically demanding conditions. This position may occasionally assist with campus safety checks and support essential operations during emergencies or inclement weather.
