About The Position

This is an entry-level position suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience. It is ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The role involves providing general labor assistance to trades workers in the Maintenance department. Requirements

  • Read, write, and express information verbally in English.
  • Understand written and oral instructions in English.
  • Good health and ability to perform full range body movements.
  • Ability to lift and move 40-50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Good dexterity.
  • Ability to work on scaffolds and ladders.
  • Not be afraid of heights.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of hand tools used in general construction trades.
  • Students who can work during academic breaks.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload tools, equipment, materials, and other items from trucks, carts, forklifts, and trailers.
  • Roll out tools and equipment at the beginning of a shift and roll them up at the end of a shift.
  • Clean up job sites and keep the shop area clean and organized.
  • Provide general labor assistance to trades workers.
  • Perform trade-related work such as digging, sweeping, cutting materials, and measuring.
  • Work with basic hand tools and power tools as instructed by a supervisor.
  • Operate hand tools and small equipment such as power washers, airless sprayers, compressors, line trimmers, blowers, and mowers as directed by a supervisor.
  • Accurately account for time using the facilities work order system.
