About The Position

The Trade Specialist at EVO Door and Window serves as the subject matter expert for all door, hardware, access control, and storefront-related services. This role is responsible for scoping, troubleshooting, and overseeing execution of work orders within their trade guidelines, ensuring technical accuracy, cost efficiency, and high-quality service delivery across a national client portfolio. This role provides divisional alignment between Service Leads, vendors, and clients, the Trade Specialist provides technical guidance, validates scopes of work, supports vendor selection, qualifying pricing, and ensures all services meet EVO’s quality standards and client expectations. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role requiring deep trade knowledge and strong operational execution.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of trade-specific experience (doors, hardware, access control, or related field preferred).
  • Experience with purchasing, estimating, or field surveys within commercial facilities or construction.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or national service operations preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial door systems (HMD, wood, FRP), Automatic door operators and sensors, Access control systems (mag locks, strikes, readers), Storefront systems and glazing basics, Hardware installation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of material take-offs and scope development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management / CMMS platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to adapt quickly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for Hollow metal doors (HMD), wood and FRP doors, Automatic door systems, Access control systems and hardware, Storefront glass and entry systems, Locks, closers, panic hardware, and security components.
  • Develop and validate detailed scopes of work (SOW) for repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
  • Diagnose issues based on client input, photos, and vendor feedback to ensure accurate first-time scoping.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and clients as needed.
  • Oversee work orders from initial diagnosis through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Partner with Service Leads/Account manager to ensure proper dispatching and execution.
  • Identify risks, scope gaps, or potential change orders early and drive resolution.
  • Support complex or high-value projects requiring deeper trade expertise.
  • Assist in selecting qualified vendors based on trade expertise, geography, and performance.
  • Review vendor quotes for technical accuracy, scope completeness, and pricing alignment.
  • Provide guidance to vendors on expectations, scope clarity and execution standards.
  • Support vendor network development by identifying gaps and recommending new partners.
  • Work closely with Account Managers and Service Leads to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Provide technical explanations and recommendations to clients when needed.
  • Assist in resolving material escalations, particularly those involving technical scope or quality concerns.
  • Ensure consistent communication and documentation across client portals and internal systems.
  • Validate estimates to ensure proper material, labor, and equipment allocation.
  • Estimate WOs specific to designated trade to properly translate vendor quotes and material pricing into customer standard language and desired pricing model based on client expectations.
  • Oversight on proposals for designated trades, reviewing costs to maintain market standards, expectations and pricing.
  • Submitting of all proposals from all trades.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through repair vs. replacement strategies.
  • Support pricing standardization for recurring work types and national programs.
  • Assist in managing budgets for large or multi-site projects.
  • Ensure all completed work meets EVO Door and Window quality standards.
  • Validate completion documentation including photos, notes and closeout details.
  • Monitor recurring issues and identify root causes to reduce repeat failures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and local codes.
  • Proactively provide guidance to team regarding product knowledge, client spec, and industry expectations.
  • Complete other assignments as needed.
