About The Position

The Trade and Distribution Operations, Senior Manager is responsible for supporting Trade department operational activities, and the Trade account management team. The qualified candidate will drive Third-Party Logistic provider (3PL’s) programming, support daily business activities, manage returned goods processes and new product launch planning. The incumbent will be a key contributor in the implementation, management, and strategy development for Vertex’s 3PL programs and support commercial contract analytics. This individual will ensure products are available and readily accessible to Specialty Distributors, Wholesalers and Specialty Pharmacy network partners within Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

Requirements

  • Typically requires 4 years of service or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience
  • Strong customer relationship, interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and influence cross functionally
  • Experience managing service providers and vendor management skills
  • Strong project management, problem solving and analytic skills
  • Team player promoting inclusion and respectful relationships, able to develop rapport and credibility with field and home office personnel including senior management
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet goals and objectives in a deadline intensive environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects requiring collaboration across functional areas in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Capable of following a project through completion with minimal direction and strong personal initiative and serving as backup to fellow team members in the department
  • Highly driven person that displays strong sense of ownership

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy, payer and patient services operations
  • Knowledge of government programs, such as 340B, State Medicaid, Medicare Part D.
  • Reimbursement, coding, and patient support knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Tactical execution of daily distribution processes, trade policies and order triage supporting Vertex’s network of direct purchasing accounts.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for 3PL partner including, account management, program performance monitoring, program innovation, enhancement, and coordinating periodic business review meetings
  • Manages transfers to and from distribution centers as needed in collaboration with Supply Chain and Logistics; monitor expiration dating and align inbound and outbound shipment forecasts with Supply Chain teams.
  • Supports free goods product requests, coordinates inventory needs with free goods program administrators and process timely orders.
  • Drives quarterly business review process to manage program performance.
  • Collates functional partner inputs, build timely content, sharing initiatives and relevant business objectives to drive partnership and program enhancements.
  • Communicates distribution and trade account-related analytics, reporting demand trends, order activity, cost per order, and other key activities to provide insight and understanding of program performance.
  • Identifies, tracks, and monitors all program deviations, coordinate with 3PL and Vertex Quality. Initiate investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Works with Vertex Trade Account Management team, Specialty Pharmacy / Distributor partners, and Full Line Wholesalers to resolve distribution related issues.
  • Support resolution of shipment discrepancies, damaged product claims and/or product complaints, compliantly executing processes for replacement goods.
  • Collaborates with Vertex Trade Account Management team to prepare quarterly business reviews, identify business trends and account performance metrics.
  • Integrate channel data into effective reports and resources
  • Support the tools and tracking for contractual key performance metrics (KPI’s).
  • Identify process gaps, develop process improvements to support evolving business needs and customer experience.
  • Supports new product launch planning activities, including coordination with cross-functional launch teams and channel partners, assemble required new product information to create product set up documentation, prepare external communications of product related information, training materials, and support other launch tactics
