About The Position

Biamp is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to join their Operations team. This role is responsible for overseeing import and export activities related to trade compliance, ensuring adherence to local and international trade regulations, and developing and managing effective policies and procedures. The specialist will collaborate with customs authorities, freight forwarders, internal stakeholders, and external partners to maintain compliance, mitigate risks, and minimize costs across all supply chain activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, import/export management, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in managing to U.S. Customs Regulations (CBP), ITAR, EAR, and Sanctions Programs (OFAC).
  • Experience with HTS/Schedule B classification and country of origin determination.
  • Experience working with custom agents, for import and export of materials and products.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside standard business hours as needed to collaborate with global partners and teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, across multiple organizations within Biamp as well as suppliers.

  • Experience of manufacturing and international supply chain is a plus, and highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support Biamp Operations with defining/optimizing trade import and export compliance codes (Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Export Control Classification Numbers, Export License Exception, etc.), potentially leveraging third-party trade compliance services and logistics partners for purchased materials and products.
  • Facilitate and drive the optimization, improvement, and establishment of Trade Compliance programs.
  • Review and oversee Biamp’s trade records for all import and export activities, verifying duty rates and ensuring records support duty drawback program applications.
  • Manage and own Biamp's Duty Drawback program.
  • Ensure Biamp’s trade activities comply with applicable local, national, and international laws (e.g., ITAR, EAR, OFAC in the U.S., Lacey act, Restricted Party Screening and other regulations worldwide) by staying current on trade regulations and import/export laws.
  • Monitor changes in trade laws, sanctions, tariffs, and embargoes, and adjust company policies accordingly, leveraging third parties (Western, Radius, FedEx) for understanding and management.
  • Resolve issues where Trade Compliance impacts inbound or outbound delivery of goods by working with third parties (freight forwarders, brokers, suppliers, and Biamp functions).
  • Work with Biamp Supply Chain and Distribution teams to identify potential compliance risks, including violations of trade laws.
  • Assist in the development of risk assessment and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a Trade Compliance resource for the entire Biamp organization, partnering with product Compliance, Engineering, Legal, Order Management, and Distribution teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your manager.
