About The Position

As a Trade Compliance Specialist at Ontic, you'll play an important role in supporting compliant international trade across our operations. Reporting to the International Trade Compliance Lead, you'll work across functional teams and alongside Trade Compliance colleagues at other Ontic sites to support our import and export activities. You'll take ownership of a broad range of trade compliance activities, from government licensing and export documentation to classifications, screenings, audits and recordkeeping. Working with minimal supervision, you'll help ensure our processes meet applicable government regulations and Ontic requirements. This is an opportunity to bring established trade compliance expertise into a growing global aerospace business, where you'll work across both day-to-day compliance activities and the detailed regulatory requirements that support our ability to operate internationally.

Requirements

5+ years of Trade Compliance experience, including preparing and submitting EAR export license applications through SNAP-R and ITAR export license applications through DECCS.
Strong knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), along with knowledge of Federal Trade Regulations (FTR).
Foundational experience with the Automated Export System (AES) and Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing.
Strong knowledge of import regulations and processes.
A bachelor's degree is preferred; in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 5+ years of Trade Compliance experience will be considered.
Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22. C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).

Nice To Haves

Licensed Customs Broker credentials would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Support import and export activities in accordance with applicable government regulations, Ontic policies and departmental requirements.
Prepare and support government licensing applications through SNAP-R and DECCS, while maintaining licensing records and providing updates on compliance actions.
Review export shipping documentation before shipment and audit export and import documentation for accuracy and compliance, including EEI/AES filings.
Conduct denied party screenings, third-party vetting and reviews of visitors and international travel requests.
Work with freight forwarders and brokers to obtain and verify required documentation and ensure information has been filed correctly.
Analyze and interpret drawings to determine Schedule B, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and U.S. Munitions List (USML) classifications, documenting classification rationale and maintaining records.
Maintain import and export records in accordance with applicable Customs regulations and Ontic policies and procedures.
