About The Position

This role involves managing import and export compliance activities, tariff programs, duty recovery initiatives, restricted-party screening, country-of-origin determinations, and applicable trade regulations. The position oversees duty recovery and remediation mechanisms, manages customer-specific Section 232 tariff offset programs, and coordinates and reviews customs entries and related documentation. The Trade Compliance Manager will also lead USMCA and other preferential trade agreement activities, manage tariff classifications, oversee Foreign Trade Zone operations, monitor customs brokers and freight forwarders, lead trade compliance audits, and develop and deliver trade compliance training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Five to seven years of experience in customs, international trade, or trade compliance, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations, including valuation, origin, tariff classification, import compliance, and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Section 232 duties, automotive tariff programs, Post-Summary Corrections, customs protests, and duty drawback processes.
  • Practical experience with the ACE Portal for entry review, data analytics, reconciliation, and compliance reporting.
  • Practical SAP experience with customs, tariff classification, material master data, and import/export data management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, and data analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of USMCA, other preferential trade agreements, FTZ operations, ADD/CVD, PGA requirements, and import/export compliance programs.
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal functions, brokers, suppliers, customers, and government agencies.
  • English proficiency is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation Management System experience is preferred.
  • Power BI experience is preferred.
  • Spanish is a plus.
  • CILT, CCS, or a U.S. Customs Broker License is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage import and export compliance activities, tariff programs, duty recovery initiatives, restricted-party screening, country-of-origin determinations, and applicable trade regulations.
  • Oversee duty recovery and remediation mechanisms, including post-entry reviews, Post-Summary Corrections, customs protests, duty drawback claims, and validation of supporting documentation.
  • Manage customer-specific Section 232 tariff offset programs and coordinate eligibility, authorization, ACE filing, broker instructions, license usage, reconciliation, and audit-ready evidence with Trade Compliance and Legal.
  • Coordinate and review customs entries, import/export documentation, broker reports, ACE data, shipment records, and required CBP recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Lead USMCA and other preferential trade agreement activities, including supplier solicitations, origin qualification, certifications, supporting records, verifications, and customer or government inquiries.
  • Manage HTSUS, Schedule B, and other applicable tariff classifications, and maintain accurate classification, customs, and trade compliance master data in SAP.
  • Oversee Foreign Trade Zone operations, customs valuation reviews, CTPAT requirements, and internal controls supporting compliance and duty savings.
  • Monitor customs brokers and freight forwarders, provide written clearance instructions, review performance against service requirements, and escalate discrepancies or potential compliance breaches.
  • Lead trade compliance audits, risk assessments, corrective actions, and regulatory-risk escalation, including import admissibility and forced-labor requirements.
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training and support cross-functional partners in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, Legal, Sales, Program, Operations, and Engineering.
