About The Position

The Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager provides essential operational support and strategic leadership for Palo Alto Networks' export/import compliance processes, global logistics workflows, and supply chain execution. Reporting directly to the Director, Trade Compliance and Logistics, this role requires active cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders (including Order Fulfillment, Sales Operations, Service Logistics, Legal, Facilities, and Engineering) and external partners (such as channel distributors, 3PL distribution centers, contract manufacturers, freight forwarders, and government regulatory agencies). The position requires deep practical expertise in global logistics practices, trade regulations, process automation, and operational management in a high-velocity technology environment. Key responsibilities encompass fulfillment program oversight, export licensing, risk assessments, automated workflow development, cross-functional playbooks, continuous process improvement, and team mentorship.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7+ years of progressive operational experience in export/import trade compliance, global logistics management, and supply chain operations.
  • Working knowledge of Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) import regulations, HTSUS/Schedule B classification, and ECCN determinations.
  • Advanced experience with SAP GTS (logistics and trade compliance modules).
  • High proficiency with Google Gemini Enterprise.
  • Practical experience utilizing AI tools, AI prompt engineering, and data analysis to streamline operations.
  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or equivalent operational experience.
  • In-depth familiarity with global freight forwarding practices across all transportation modes, 3PL management, and distribution center operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and data analysis skills with an action- and results-oriented mindset.
  • Proven capability to audit manual workflows, eliminate operational bottlenecks, automate repetitive tasks, and author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across Legal, Sales Ops, Order Ops, Facilities, and Engineering with high urgency and diplomatic composure under pressure.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of effective mentorship and team knowledge sharing.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and quickly adapt priorities to meet evolving business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead non-technical operations for fulfillment and repair programs, including stabilizing contract manufacturer integrations and advancing the automated pick-up program.
  • Oversee and manage Service Level Agreements for distribution center and 3PL operations; monitor shipment progress and resolve complex export/import clearance issues through final delivery.
  • Redesign RMA receiving processes, establish clear cross-departmental Roles & Responsibilities (R&R), and enforce operational quality controls.
  • Develop, refine, and execute operational improvements, including the EOQ burst capacity, and accelerate throughput, and maximize FTZ savings.
  • Enhance pallet labeling, carton packaging, and freight processing across all transportation modes to optimize shipping efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement processes necessary for the support of the Export Compliance Program (ECP) Manual based on U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) guidelines and internal assessments.
  • Automate the creation and audit of compliant export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, etc.) in accordance with BIS and CBP regulations; manage Automated Export System (AES) entries.
  • Validate Sanctioned Party List screening results for shipment release authorization and perform entity ownership structure research for sanctioned party risk assessments.
  • Design and implement automated workflows, such as automated carton count processes for large configurable orders, driving scalable operational efficiency.
  • Leverage AI prompt engineering and modern tools to centralize tribal knowledge across operational NotebookLM and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work with third-party suppliers and tool providers to evaluate logistics technology and continuously improve software tools.
  • Deliver outreach training presentations to groups exporting goods and technology.
  • Manage team members training and skills while fostering team growth and operational alignment.
  • Lead cross-training initiatives across the trade compliance and logistics team to maintain operational best practices and ensure worldwide coverage.
