About The Position

We are seeking a Trade Compliance Export Specialist to work hybrid in our Andover, MA or Telford PA office. The Export Control Specialist ensures the company’s adherence to global export control laws and regulations, mitigating risks associated with the international transfer of goods, technology, and services. This role is responsible for supporting the trade compliance program, conducting export screenings, and classifying items according to relevant export regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR), and acting as or supporting the company’s Empowered Official in ITAR matters. The Export Control Specialist collaborates with legal, customer success, order management, HR, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure all export activities align with company policies and regulatory requirements. By providing expert guidance and conducting audits, the Export Control Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding the company from penalties, delays, and reputational risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline strongly preferred; comparable combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum job-related professional experience: 5+ years
  • Previous experience in an Export Compliance related position required.
  • Experience in the determination of product classifications
  • Experience in implementing a trade compliance program for a global organization
  • Experience acting as the Empowered Official

Nice To Haves

  • Industry and technical knowledge of Safety Products and/or medical equipment is a plus.
  • Export Certifications (CES) or licenses a plus

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve compliance management systems to ensure adherence to applicable trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, and OFAC requirements. (e.g., product and technology classifications, license determinations, recordkeeping, auditing, monitoring and screening).
  • Responsible for executing daily trade compliance activities, including restricted party and SPL screening for order/partner releases, releasing U.S. export orders, visitor screening reviews and approvals, MSR (Manual Shipment Request) reviews and approvals, AES filing in ACE, and preparing/submitting export license applications through DDTC and SNAP-R.
  • Audit and manage record-keeping systems for accuracy and compliance with regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Administer compliance policies, programs, processes, procedures, and templates in accordance with regulatory requirements and Draeger’s global and local policies, programs, processes and procedures.
  • Researching and reviewing new or changing legislation and potential impact such may have on Draeger’s trade compliance program.
  • Conducting internal audits of various functions and company operations to assure compliance effectiveness and identify areas of weakness for improvement
  • Work in a cross-functional organization and collaborate with other departments and employees involved in the import or export of goods to provide guidance and direction with respect to compliance.
  • Serve as one of the designated Empowered Officials, with authority to represent the company in ITAR-related matters, including reviewing, approving, and certifying export authorization requests, technical data releases, and license applications to ensure full regulatory compliance.
