About The Position

The Trade Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring continuous compliance with import/export transactions, including Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs). This role involves conducting in-depth reviews of Nidec Mobility America’s (NMOA’s) trade compliance programs for effectiveness and efficiency, and implementing key compliance initiatives. The coordinator will also prepare reports for NMOA’s leadership team and support management with the accurate and timely execution of international trade functions.

Requirements

5+ years’ experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or import/export operations.
Advanced working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import/export laws, Foreign Trade Zones, Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS’s), Freight Bidding, and other compliance requirements.
Proficiency with trade compliance software (ex., Integration Point), ERP software (ex., QAD) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience in customs documentation review, valuation, and Country of Origin determination.
Proficiency with KPI’s (Key Performance Indicator), reporting, and compliance auditing.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and external contacts.

Bachelor's degree in international business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Actively monitor trade regulations, enforcement actions, and international trade agreements, providing guidance and support to ensure company compliance.
Further develop SOP procedures for EEI Filings, Validated Country of Origin, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and Export Classification Control Numbers.
Assess trade compliance programs’ effectiveness and continually optimize logistics’ operations.
Review and implement compliance-related programs, coordinating processes to ensure alignment with regulatory standards, including FTZ.
Perform compliance reviews of import, export, and FTZ documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness of international shipments.
Validate critical information such as Country of Origin, Valuation, and OGA filings.
Respond to inquiries and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding documentation requirements and import/export regulations.
Support complex import/export transactions, including valuation, provision schedules, and routing guidance.
Assist management to ensure timely and accurate transactions for regulation compliance.
Sustain active communication with management and staff across multiple business functions to address and resolve compliance-related inquiries promptly.
Respond to inquiries from freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other vendors, ensuring timely clearance and compliance with documentation requirements for imports and exports.
Solicit detailed bids (RFP) from different carriers to elicit best price, delivery timelines, and terms for moving NMOA’s freight.
Maintain relationships with key partners, such as freight forwarders, customs brokers, and foreign suppliers, to ensure efficient flow of tangible items and support compliance across the supply chain.
Generate performance metrics related to import/export processes and ensure continual improvement practices.
Prepare reports and presentations for NMOA’s leadership team.
Manage and maintain customs records in compliance with CBP (Customs and Border Protection) regulations and the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR).
Serve as the primary contact person for C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism).
Provide support for other compliance-related activities and special projects as assigned by NMOA’s senior leadership.
