About The Position

The Trade Compliance Analyst (Canadian Operations) role at The Toro Company is responsible for managing and resolving day-to-day operational issues related to Canadian imports, including documentation discrepancies, classification, and valuation. This role involves managing broker relationships, monitoring changes to Canadian tariffs and duty rates, and maintaining electronic records for customs entries. The analyst will also perform internal compliance audits, analyze trade data, conduct free trade qualification analysis, and assist with CBSA requests and audits. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners, as well as providing support for other departmental duties, are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6+ years of deep experience working with Canadian imports and CBSA regulations
  • Knowledge of tariff classification, country of origin, valuation and the CARM client portal
  • Experience with Canada’s Trade Agreements, including CUSMA, CETA, CPTPP, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple high priority tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full professional fluency in English; both verbal and written
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Familiar with SAP & other enterprise systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of deep experience working with Canadian imports and CBSA regulations
  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist a plus
  • US CBP import experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manages and resolves day-to-day operational issues such as import documentation discrepancies, classification, valuation, etc.
  • Broker management
  • HS classification
  • Monitors changes to the Canadian tariff and duty rates
  • Maintains electronic recordkeeping of documentation and data for customs entries and amendments (B3 & B2)
  • Extracts and analyzes trade data from CARM, customs brokers, and internal software to perform internal compliance audits, resolve identified issues, and perform corrective actions
  • Performs CUSMA and other free trade qualification analysis
  • Assists in all projects relative to CBSA requests & audits to ensure responses are timely and accurate
  • Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Provide support for all other duties within the department as necessary
