About The Position

This position will provide guidance and support to TAI Business Unit functions in areas of Imports and Exports, with a focus on compliance and logistics. The role reports to LRTC (Corporate Compliance) and works closely with Business Units on potential new business, ensuring proper controls are in place in standard business processes and flows. Additionally, this position will help promote operational efficiency, identify cost-down opportunities, evaluate strategic sourcing, and leverage U.S. Free Trade Agreements. It will also review opportunities to generate new business by establishing disciplines to meet and bring new solutions for customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of 19 CFR (CBP rules and regulations)
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend regulatory requirements
  • Requires good reading comprehension
  • Excellent written & verbal communication
  • Knowledge of import and export programs, including Free Trade Agreements, CFR Title 19, ACE, HTS classification, and PGA regulations is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelors Degree can be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formal audits to review import and export compliance.
  • Manage new item set-up for compliance requirements, to include HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, FTA’s, PGA’s and Audit of existing materials.
  • Act as lead contact on all Import and/or Export compliance matters to establish proper standardization and disciplines.
  • Identify any inefficient process and/or issues to escalation for proper resolution.
  • Develop and update internal and external SOPs.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce and recover cost through specific government programs for the purpose of current business as well as business expansion. (ex: Countries with preferential duty, drawbacks, export filing, etc.).
  • Conduct on-going training for TAI's Business Sections to achieve common objectives cited throughout job description and responsibilities.
  • Generate and analyze reports as needed (ACE, IPTR…)
  • Support standardization and database consolidation by the Corporate Compliance group to facilitate implementation of the Trade Management System.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending internal/external educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establish and expand professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Work with suppliers, customers to improve the import and/or export process from a compliance and/or cost standpoint.
  • Conduct standardized/formalized audits to review compliance in areas of import and export, but also opportunities for improvement to identify inefficient, duplicate processes to include logistics process.
