About The Position

The Tractor Operator operates gasoline- or diesel-powered tractors, compost turners, stake bed trucks, and Bobcats, and performs other duties assigned to meet the operational requirements of the contract. The role involves outdoor work in extreme temperatures, noise, inclement weather, and other conditions associated with the work. Tasks may take place on uneven or inclined terrain, hard or soft surfaces, concrete structures, and surfaces at variable heights. The operator must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for an eight-hour shift. The position has no financial or people-management responsibilities and does not require travel.

Compensation is $24.46 per hour, plus a $7.00-per-hour fringe benefit rate provided in accordance with applicable contract requirements. The position may also be eligible for benefits based on applicable bargaining unit agreements. Duties may change to meet business needs; the description is not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of tractor operation experience.
• Valid Class C state driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for an eight-hour shift.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Move materials; draw implements; tow trailers; pull objects embedded in the ground; and use a winch cable to raise, lower, or load heavy material or equipment.
• Operate a tractor to mow vegetation along roads, ditches, culverts, and other uneven terrain.
• Fasten tractor attachments, including graders, plows, rollers, mowers over 2,000 pounds, backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows.
• Adjust equipment for proper operation.
• Lubricate and make minor repairs to tractors and attachments, such as tightening bolts and replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws.
• Perform other duties assigned to satisfy the operational requirements of the contract.
• Work cooperatively as a team player and communicate effectively.
