About The Position

The Field Engineer - Trackers is responsible for overseeing the assembly and installation of the tracker systems on the project. In this role, you will provide comprehensive project field engineering support, including work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and coordination of system turnover. Your efforts will ensure that field engineering activities are conducted safely, completed on time, and meet quality standards and project requirements. The Cold Creek Solar & Storage Project is a large scale renewable energy development located near San Angelo, Texas, delivering 430 MWac of solar generation paired with a 170 MWac (340 MWh) battery energy storage system. Developed in partnership with Doral Renewables, this project represents one of Bechtel’s largest single phase solar projects to date and its fifth solar facility in Texas.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Incident safety program.
  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means, and methods.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including Setroute, ArcGIS, Aconex, DSCS, and Unifier.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittments.
