About The Position

The Track Programs Supervisor will supervise and coordinate daily activities of all track programs across the system. This role requires you to work closely with the District Managers to identify, prioritize and organize work programs to be carried out by the various work gangs and contractors throughout the work season.

Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Qualified in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR)
  • Completion of Manual of Track Requirements (MOTR) training
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in operating various track machinery
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in rail infrastructure
  • Minimum 5 years managing a workforce, planning, executing and overseeing work
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Northland track and yards
  • Knowledge of various track components
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to complete the physical aspect of the position including outdoor exposure in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work under pressure while managing competing priorities
  • Valid G licence with the ability to travel 75% of the time throughout our system

Responsibilities

  • Delegate work to individual work gangs and provide the parameters to work within
  • Assist managers in determining areas required for renewal such as rail, ties and surface
  • Mark ties and grade rail
  • Determine amounts of material needed and ensure delivery to the appropriate location
  • Responsible for the timely and efficient distribution of rail, ties and OTM to be used by the production gangs
  • Work with and assist Foremen in developing techniques and skills to carry out their work. Provide training and updates on new work or procedures
  • Coordinate with other track forces, contractors and outside departments
  • Request and arrange with rail traffic control track and work blocks to perform work, train and crew to move boarding cars and equipment to and from locations
  • Coordinate with mechanical department and other outside repair parties
  • Upkeep facilities for the work season
  • Provide day-to-day fuel, water and supplies as required
  • In winter months, direct snow fighter operations and assist with the planning and ordering of snowplows and spreaders
  • Other special projects such as Switch construction or outside contracts that arise
