About The Position

This position involves performing strenuous physical labor in railroad track construction and maintenance. The role requires the ability to operate power tools, communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, and travel as needed. Candidates must successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical capacity test. The work environment includes outdoor construction settings, around moving vehicles and equipment, and exposure to various weather elements, requiring the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• Previous railroad track construction experience preferred.
• Ability to operate power tools.
• Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and supervisors.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Ability to pass a physical capacity test.
• Able to perform physical strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently.
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Use a 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force.
• Use a 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force.
• Walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails, and ballast.
• Navigate into confined spaces if necessary.
• Wear appropriate PPE for the project site.
