About The Position

In this position, you will be part of a team that will execute FNV3.x Electrical Platform execution across all Programs. You will be laser-focused on the management of Platform hardware and software delivery across all domains incorporating the needs of individual vehicle programs into the platform through the lens of optimized enterprise solutions. This role will focus on supporting the Core Platform Cabin Controls and Layout for FNV3.x. The team will manage Electrical Platform Hardware and Software Delivery – focusing on the Platform Controls and HMI bundles which span Motion, Body Control, Infotainment (IVI), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and the applicability for applications and cloud. The Tech Platform Program (TPP) team will partner with the Core Tech Platform Program team, Electrical Architecture teams, Technical Program Management, and Vehicle Programs and be in lockstep with Connected Vehicle Software and Global Technology Strategy initiatives. You will be responsible for managing the following aspects of platform delivery across vehicle programs and throughout the Platform’s lifecycle: Program Platform Deliverables, Timing, Cost, Investment, Quality, Resource Modeling, Hardware Bundle Complexity, Feature Bundle Execution and, Software complexity. You will demonstrate a passion for changing Ford’s approach to Electrical Tech Platform which is currently focused on vehicle-specific solutions to a cross-program Platform delivery. You will be paving a new road for how Ford Motor Company executes Electrical Platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Work hybrid schedule between in-office (Dearborn or Palo Alto).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product, JIRA – technical experience with VSEM and boundary diagrams a bonus
  • Experience delivering features from conception to launch, with the products delivering end-user experiences
  • Experience with Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) deliverables and timing.
  • Demonstrates positive teamwork ethics
  • Experience with in-vehicle architectures and their roadmaps, constraints, and complexity. Including highly complex and distributed systems/features both on/off board
  • Experience with Design and Release, program management and planning, business strategy and product coordination.
  • Experience with risk management techniques within the construct of Program delivery and Design to Platform selection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tenacity and a willingness to work in evolving states of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated capability of developing a cross-functional and global team environment
  • Demonstrated mindset of Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the new working interaction model of how the FNV3.x Platform and Digital Design, Controls Strategies,
  • Interfacing with platform applications, Design – Digital and Studio, Program Applications teams, Tech Strategy, Digital Product, and EVDD Functional Engineering Teams to deliver a platform Controls Strategy and Layout (previously CL&U) for the Platform
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to deliver a “platform” first overall strategy with low complexity, efficient implementation plans, while balancing the key design principles for best customer experiences
  • Be part of the solution to deliver exceptional experience with quality at the right time in the platform progression of FNV3.x.
  • Provide the foundation with the Core Platform CL&U Library of platform choices aligned with FNV3.x
  • Supporting development of strategy plans for new Vehicle Program Cycle Plan – for both design
  • Partnering with TPP Applications and Vehicle Programs to ensure balanced enterprise solutions with focus on Platform approach.
  • Partner with Tech Strategy and the TPP Core Team Features and HW Teams to complete necessary scope and systems i/o analysis. Define impacts and recommendations for design strategies, including Switches
  • Hold the standard with partnering D&R teams to Platform timelines, risk mitigation plans and cost/investment to ensure on-time and on-target delivery.
  • Driving the cross-skill team delivery with the use of design guardrails – to enable iterative design, while upholding the constraints needed to maintain implementation plans; ensure all platform solutions are able to delivery with robustness. Reduce delivery risk.
  • Navigating challenges related to vehicle development that impacts Electrical Platform foundational architecture principles and hardware/software complexity for vehicle life cycle.
  • Driving awareness/transparency for new designs that will compromise complexity.
  • Developing complete plans for a consistent Platform strategy across current and future platform waves
  • Catalyze and support the priority of changes through the required Decision Forums (DFs): Architecture Change Control, Unified Backlog, Platform Change Control, Vehicle Program Change Control,
