About The Position

Kean Miller is seeking an experienced Litigation Defense Attorney in their Baton Rouge office. This role is for a Partnership Track or Reduced Hour Staff Attorney. The firm serves a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, national businesses, and local companies, providing efficient legal services and practical advice. The attorney will be responsible for developing and executing sophisticated litigation strategies and handling all phases of asbestos and exposure-related litigation.

Requirements

Minimum of seven (7) years of litigation experience
Primary focus on asbestos litigation, toxic-tort defense, products liability, and industrial operations litigation
Experience working with corporate clients, insurers, and national coordinating council
Minimum of 7 years’ defense experience in asbestos or toxic-tort litigation
Experience representing corporate defendants in occupational-exposure matters, including asbestos, chemical exposure, and product-liability claims
Strong litigation background with experience in complex, multi-party and multi-district cases
Experience coordinating discovery, developing experts, and managing large volumes of technical and operational evidence
Ability to independently handle depositions, hearings, and motion practice
Ability to collaborate effectively with national counsel and sophisticated corporate clients

Responsibilities

Developing and executing sophisticated litigation strategies
Handling all phases of asbestos and exposure-related litigation, including case evaluation, discovery management, expert development, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
Representing corporate defendants in occupational-exposure matters, including asbestos, chemical exposure, and product-liability claims
Coordinating discovery, developing experts, and managing large volumes of technical and operational evidence
Independently handling depositions, hearings, and motion practice
Collaborating effectively with national counsel and sophisticated corporate clients
