Requirements

Member of the Town of Purcellville.
Expertise and knowledge of architecture, architectural history, Town history, Town planning or landscape architecture (for BAR).
Member of Town Council, Economic Development Advisory Committee, Planning Commission, Purcellville Historic Society, or a citizen appointed member (for TSAB).

Responsibilities

Support visual and performing arts in the Town of Purcellville.
Offer local artists more opportunities to share their art with the public.
Provide residents with a variety of ways to experience, enjoy, and learn about art.
Review and approve new construction and alterations of existing structures on non-residential properties.
Approve the demolition or relocation of any historic structures within the Historic Corridor Overlay District.
Hear and decide on requests for variances from the Town’s zoning regulations and appeals of administrative determinations.
Decide on special exception permits.
Provide advice on matters relating to the promotion of a sound economy for the Town.
Make recommendations on new policies and programs to strengthen the Town’s commercial tax base.
Support recommendations with research on the economic health of the Town and the business needs of the community.
Provide assistance for Town events that enhance the economic vitality of Purcellville.
Serve as the coordinating and reviewing body of the Town for matters related to parks, sidewalks, trails and recreational facilities and activities.
Promote the orderly development of the locality and its environs.
Advise the Council on matters relating to Town planning and development.
Develop and recommend updates to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.
Review and make recommendations on updates to the Town’s zoning and development related regulations.
Look at all aspects of environmental programs, sustainability ideas, and enhancement of the tree canopy.
Continue the Town's Tree City USA designation.
Be responsible for activities as noted in the Covenants and Conditions for the Train Station.
