About The Position

The Tower Foreman supervises and performs construction duties on a daily basis on telecommunication sites. This role involves supervising subcontractors and job site personnel to complete the scope of work assigned, ensuring all tasks are followed and completed in a timely and safe manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years or more of related tower and construction experience and/or training.
  • Good communication skills, reading and writing skills (English).
  • Good computer skills. Knowledge and use of Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Clean Driving Record & Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to accommodate out of town travel, if required.
  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • ComTrain, OSHA30, RF Awareness Training, First AID/CPR trained.
  • Experience with Anritsu Site Master, Andrew, PPC, tower mapping and antenna equipment.
  • Experience stacking self-support towers, installing waveguide, antennas, and microwave dishes.
  • Experience with RF Awareness, replacement, and maintenance (coax, jumpers, TMA’s, connectors, weatherproofing).
  • Highly organized and able to effectively report verbally and written reports back to the Superintendent and/or Tower Construction Manager.
  • Climbing telecommunications towers.
  • Rigging telecommunications towers.
  • Installation and modifying sector mounts, T-Booms, platforms, and banding of monopoles.
  • Installing, testing, and repairing of antennas, TMA’s, diplexers, duplexers, and surge arrestors.
  • Installation and testing of all grounding of tower components to include ground rings for tower, shelter, equipment pads and compound.
  • Installation and testing of coax and elliptical cable.
  • Installation, testing, and repairing of tower light systems.
  • Installation of Ice Bridges.
  • Sweeping test all lines and equipment, operating sweep test software, reading results and sending to customers.
  • PIM testing all lines and equipment, operate PIM test software, reading results and sending to customers.
  • Installing, commissioning, and testing RET systems.
  • Using of GPS alignment tools.
  • Installing, testing, path aligning and troubleshoot Microwave dishes.
  • Installing, testing, and troubleshooting RRU/BBU equipment on towers.
  • Other duties relating to telecommunication tower construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a crew of 2-4 members.
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations for hiring, firing, training, advancements, compensation, promotions, production, efficiency, or other status changes of employees.
  • Ensure full understanding of job or project scope of work (SOW) and methods of procedures (MOP).
  • Write detailed MOPs.
  • Schedule employee work and work hours for assigned employees.
  • Direct and plan the work of assigned employees.
  • Determine proper project techniques for assigned employees.
  • Maintain job records for managing or control.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent or Construction Manager to determine materials, equipment, and tools for assigned projects.
  • Read, interpret, and build according to design site plans and layouts.
  • Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies.
  • Plan and control job budgets.
  • Manage all data in Betacom tools (Site Manager) and customer tools.
  • Ensure safety and security of employees and company assets.
  • Perform inspection of entire installs, troubleshoot problems, and capture and provide closeout packages.
  • Participate and assist in handling employee complaints, grievances, discipline, and probation according to company policy and law.
  • Take full responsibility for crew safety, ensuring compliance with company and customer safety requirements.
  • Inspect all tools and rigging gear to ensure they are safe to use.
  • Report any workers’ comp injuries or other incidents.
  • Perform other closely related work, including timesheet and recordkeeping, completing Job Safety Analysis, and adjusting equipment and tools.
  • Understand hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
  • Obtain certification with all test equipment (Anritsu sweep gear, PIM gear, fiber testing, etc.).
  • Utilize custom tower rigging techniques.
  • Troubleshoot various issues including RET’s, GPS antenna systems, RF noise floor, TMA gain, tower light systems, VSWR, microwave systems, etc.
  • Proficiently complete closeout packages.
