About The Position

Toonie Tours is a fun, customer, and quality-focused tour company that welcomes and connects customers to Canada through tours and experiences. Founded in 2018, Toonie Tours has become a 5-star rated tour company by putting the customer first and delivering genuinely down-to-earth tours and experiences. Toonie Tours is located in in 11 cities from West coast Victoria to East Coast Quebec City and aims to expand its operations and activities across Canada. Toonie Tours is currently looking for Tour Guides to join our team and represent their local community in Calgary, Alberta. This position is for a freelance, contractor position and experience in a similar role is preferred. We are primarily hiring people who are available to work part-time or seasonal full-time, and often on weekends. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead a group of 5-30 customers on a highly entertaining and engaging tour of your community. Toonie Tours embraces a performance-based compensation model to keep Tour Guides at the top of their game. We are looking for people who love Canada and know all about their communities!

Requirements

  • Fluent English speaking.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and speak loudly.
  • Personable and approachable.
  • Exceptional story-telling skills.
  • Ability to capture the attention of the group.
  • Great sense of humor.
  • Works well in a performance-based compensation model.
  • Recommendable and commands 5-star reviews.
  • Adapts well to varying circumstances as the group needs change with the always-changing outdoor environment.
  • Shows up early for every tour, without fail.
  • Physically fit - can manage 5 km of walking in 3 hours, while speaking and presenting.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, research, design, and personalize tours and stories to be authentically presented.
  • Meet, welcome, and lead tour groups of 5-30 customers.
  • Provide local recommendations and tips for out-of-town travelers, and customers less familiar with your community.
  • Represent Toonie Tours, your community, and tour guides in general to the public.
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
