About The Position

This position is responsible for supplying production with properly made totes. The Tote Maker will manually form totes for product shipment by folding cardboard in the proper manner and securing it to a pallet with shrink wrap. This role also involves supplying tote inventory when stock is low and moving formed totes with a manual jack to designated areas. The Tote Maker participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. They are expected to coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings. Additionally, the Tote Maker must be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand their responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems, considering the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This role performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work on feet up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Must be able to extend arms, bend back and stoop for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level and above and at shoulder level.
  • Hearing protection, protective eyewear, smock, apron, gloves, hair net/beard net, slip-resistant footwear and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Responsibilities

  • Manually forming totes for product shipment by folding cardboard in the proper manner and securing to a pallet with shrink wrap.
  • Supplies tote inventory when stock is low.

  • Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
