About The Position

This position is a combined role of TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) at .8 FTE and Assistant Administrator at .2 FTE, effective for the beginning of the 2026-27 School Year. The TOSA role focuses on assessing student needs, developing academic success strategies, implementing interventions, and collaborating with staff and support teams. The Assistant Administrator role supports the school's mission, student learning, positive school environment, and effective communication, including partnering with the principal for teacher observations and evaluations. The district emphasizes a student-centered culture with core values of empathy, integrity, and high expectations, fostering inclusivity and a love of learning.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the state of Minnesota to teach middle school.
  • Strong general academic background.
  • Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and community.
  • Licensed by the State of Minnesota to teach middle school students.
  • MN Administrative license.
  • Experience in leading teachers to maximize academic growth for students.
  • Ability to build relationships with staff, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Experience as an instructional leader; team building consensus and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate well and lead change.
  • Experience in facilitating positive behavioral systems school-wide.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student needs and construct strategies that aid students with accomplishing academic success.
  • Preserve continuous communication with parents.
  • Implement appropriate strategies for academic intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to offer insight in the development of academic goals & objectives for students.
  • Collaborate with student support team (teachers, counselors, administration) to design individualized/accommodated programming for success.
  • Attend Learning Team meetings when necessary for student success.
  • Engage students with suitable classroom management techniques.
  • Keep records of lesson plans and student performance.
  • Facilitate and support learning aligned to the curriculum of Independent School District 196.
  • Carry out responsibilities as defined by the master contract.
  • Carry out responsibilities as defined by the principal.
  • Maintain good communication and cooperation with staff and parents.
  • Provide educational interventions and progress monitoring for students who need additional support.
  • Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties.
  • Implement the MTSS model of increasingly intense student interventions and monitor student progress according to prescribed procedures.
  • Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
  • Assist in the implementation of the school mission and help school achieve excellence in the areas of student learning, team collaboration, positive school learning environment, effective communication.
  • Empower students to identify and manage emotions, resolve conflicts, build positive relationships, and develop problem-solving skills.
  • Establish and maintain good communication and relationships with staff, students, parents and community partners.
  • Support school learning teams.
  • Partner with the principal for teacher observations and evaluations.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as defined by the principal.
