About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Torch Cutter to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to cut metal material using a 6-foot torch. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including setting up the cutting area for Hot Work Policy and Emergency Action Plan, and ensuring efficient production. You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining oxy-fuel equipment, changing gas cylinders, wearing appropriate PPE, and performing regular maintenance and housekeeping of the work area. The role also involves inspecting equipment safety, using effective cutting techniques, and organizing materials for optimal space utilization. Compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations is expected.

Requirements

  • Experience cutting with a 6-foot torch is required.
  • Ability to set up Oxy-fuel station, adjust regulators, ensure hose safety, and maintain torch condition.
  • Ability to change out compressed gas cylinders.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Ability to inspect the safety of equipment.
  • Knowledge of common cutting techniques that conserve torch parts and maximize production.
  • Ability to keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to organize materials for effective use of space.
  • Ability to dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
  • Ability to inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Cut metal material with a 6-foot torch.
  • Set up the cutting area for Hot Work Policy, Emergency Action Plan, and efficient cutting production.
  • Setup Oxy-fuel station position, regulator adjustments, hose safety and torch condition.
  • Change out compressed gas cylinders when required.
  • Wear the required PPE.
  • Perform maintenance and housekeeping of the entire torch cutting area.
  • Inspect the safety of the equipment.
  • Use common cutting techniques that conserve torch parts and maximize production.
  • Clean up work area at the end of shift.
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Organize materials to have more effective use of space.
  • Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
  • Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
  • Maintain effective housekeeping in the workplace area for safety and hygienic conditions.
