About The Position

The Top Prospects internship program is designed to give university students in their final year of study or recent university graduates an immersive, eight-month look at what it is like to work in the professional sports industry while gaining valuable hands-on experience. Once scouting is complete this off-season, our rookies will join the team for training camp starting on September 1, 2026, and will conclude their terms on April 30, 2027. All internships are onsite at our office, right next to Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver. Our Top Prospects interns will be assigned to a core department but will also have the opportunity to work closely with other departments.

Requirements

  • Current university student in their final year of study or recent university graduate in a related field of study
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism in presentation, conduct, and reliability
  • Strong work ethic and willing to go the extra mile
  • Eager to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to uphold company values of discipline, respect, excellent, attitude, and mindset (DREAM)
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Experience with Excel, SQL, and Python is required for the BI internship.
  • Strong written communication skills are expected for Communications interns.
  • Experience with Excel is required for Community Engagement & Social Impact internship.
  • Experience with Sony cameras and Adobe Creative Cloud experience, particularly in Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere (or Final Cut/DaVinci) are required for the Content internship.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud is required for Graphic Design internship.
  • Applicants are required to submit a link to their portfolio of work for review with their application for Graphic Design.
  • Experience using social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, as well as Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop and Premier) are required for the Social Media internship.
  • Experience using social media platforms; Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook, as well as experience using Capcut are required for The Sportsbar internship.
  • All internships are in-person at our offices at Rogers Arena.

Responsibilities

  • Developing reports, analyzing results, providing CRM support, and providing data-driven recommendations to support departments.
  • Managing and tracking ticket inventory, survey planning and execution, and fan insight reports.
  • Supporting all communications efforts, leading media relations, coordinating interview requests, and ensuring consistent messaging across teams and business operations.
  • Setting up media areas on game days, monitoring daily media coverage, compiling statistical and historical information, creating and distributing media credentials, and contributing to the production of materials such as game day lineups and media guides.
  • Connecting and engaging with fans and partnering with community initiatives.
  • Participating in various community events throughout the year and managing minor hockey programs and the donation in kind program.
  • Supporting Tickets for Kids, Fan Mail, and Fin’s Friends programs.
  • Working community events, game nights and weekends as needed.
  • Developing content and executing the strategic vision for website and social media platforms.
  • Assisting with shooting video at events and practices, editing features for social media, recording team media availabilities, and acting as a production assistant on shoots.
  • Supporting the Abbotsford Canucks and Vancouver Warriors.
  • Planning, execution, and management of small events at Rogers Arena.
  • Preparing all required event documentation, reviewing all event reports, and following up on action items.
  • Taking on special projects and shadowing Event Managers on planning and managing large scale events.
  • Assisting with a multitude of fan initiatives and programs, including arena tours, the Canucks Kids Club, and event services planning and marketing projects.
  • Fielding fan inquiries over the phone and by email.
  • Processing invoices, verifying expense reports, updating balance sheet reconciliation working papers, and completing bank reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with Creative and Marketing departments to execute ad designs, version out assets and prep files.
  • Assisting the IT team in setting up equipment for new employees, monitoring inventory of computer equipment, and providing first-level support to employees on hardware and software issues.
  • Contributing to special projects for the IT team.
  • Supporting marketing campaign development and execution for the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Warriors, and Abbotsford Canucks.
  • Tracking project progress on Wrike, executing on event emails, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in bringing activations to life and set up and tear down of activations on event days, including digital activations, in-market contests, and signage.
  • Building reports for partners and helping coordinate department events.
  • Participating in a full recruitment and onboarding cycle for new event staff team members.
  • Experiencing various other HR initiatives such as HR systems administration, payroll, and other employee engagement activities.
  • Supporting large scale staff scheduling, including availability updates, time-off requests, deployment changes, and maintaining staffing levels for events.
  • Assisting with the distribution and organization of uniforms for part-time staff.
  • Providing support and contributing to exceptional guest experiences in Premium Hospitality.
  • Learning about sales prospecting and assisting with sales forecasting reports, game day reporting and preparation, and sales presentations.
  • Working to improve premium membership experience through assisting with event planning and execution, fulfilling member benefits, and project management of departmental projects.
  • Playing an active role in event operations and with the department’s human resources needs, including interviewing part-time Quick Service job candidates and assisting with onboarding and training.
  • Assisting with streamlining processes, updating menu boards, IT programming, and sales reporting for the team.
  • Assisting in creating content for all the team’s social media platforms, engaging with fans, implementing social media trends, creating analytics reports, and attending team events to support with coverage.
  • Gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of restaurant operations and management.
  • Supporting areas such as hiring and training staff, event planning, food and beverage operations, event setup, revenue-building strategies, and daily administrative functions.
  • Assisting the Director, Restaurants in administrative duties in other Premium Club Venues.
  • Contributing to content creation and social media strategy for The Sportsbar.
  • Assisting in the overall daily operations of the Ticket Centre and in supporting the Membership Experience team.
  • Working within Ticketmaster systems, supporting Ticket Centre staff, and maintaining the highest standard of customer service.
  • Responding to fan inquiries over the phone, email, and walk-ups.
