About The Position

The LAUNCH Program is an internship designed to provide hands-on experience across various departments within a long-term care facility. Interns will have the opportunity to explore different tracks, including Laundry/Housekeeping/Maintenance, Dietary Aide/Cook, Resident Enrichment Services (RES), Life Enrichment Services (LES), and Administration/Business Office/Human Resources (Admin/BO/HR). Each track involves specific hours dedicated to education, training, and practical application of job functions. The program emphasizes learning, aspiring, understanding, navigating, coordinating, and fostering a caring environment. Interns will work alongside experienced staff, follow established procedures, and participate in regular discussions and evaluations of their progress. The program culminates in a final presentation and a certificate of completion.

Requirements

  • A newly hired employee is presented all 5 tracks and picks a track that interests them.
  • No more than five LAUNCHers in a certain track at one time.
  • After the track is chosen, the Director meets with the LAUNCHer and fills out a schedule so they are aware of their sequence.
  • The LAUNCHer works the same hours during each track as those who normally work in the track.
  • At the end of each week during their sequence, the LAUNCHers will meet as a group with a Director, which will rotate, and discuss new processes learned, any concerns and discuss their current sequence in general, pros and cons.
  • At the end of each sequence, the Director will fill out paperwork regarding the LAUNCHer and their progress through the program.
  • One time per month, the LAUNCH program will have a graduation ceremony, where the LAUNCHer will present their final narrative via presentation to the Directors and Leadership team.
  • The LAUNCHers, who are graduating will be presented with a certificate of completion.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the LAUNCH Program, exploring various tracks such as Laundry/Housekeeping/Maintenance, Dietary Aide/Cook, RES, LES, and Admin/BO/HR.
  • Complete assigned hours of education, training, and practical application within each chosen track.
  • Learn and apply specific job functions and procedures relevant to each department.
  • Attend weekly group meetings with a rotating Director to discuss new processes, concerns, and program progress.
  • Receive and act upon feedback from Directors regarding performance through regular paperwork.
  • Prepare and present a final narrative via presentation to the Directors and Leadership team.
  • Adhere to the program process, including track selection, schedule adherence, and weekly discussions.
  • Work the same hours during each track as those who normally work in the track.
