About The Position

The Tool & Parts/Hazmat Coordinator orders, receives, inventories, stores, issues, and disposes of special tools, non-aircraft parts and materials, and hazardous materials as required. Coordinates with Vendors and local facilities for requisition and/or disposal of special tools, non-aircraft parts and materials, and hazardous materials. Tracks, services, and maintains special tools and equipment. Maintains hazardous material storage lockers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces material control courses or civilian equivalent or two (2) years’ experience in aviation supply required.
  • Must be able to meet any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.
  • Completion of the 24-hour Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) 24-hour Introduction to Hazardous Waste Generation and Handling course.
  • Must have two (2) years’ experience in aviation supply procedures.
  • Computer key punch experience or equivalent typing experience required.
  • Possess a working knowledge of tool room, safety, and aviation supply procedures.
  • Must be able to read and interpret parts catalogs and operate a computer.
  • Must be able to follow written procedures for ordering, receiving, issuing, securing, maintaining, and inventorying tools and special equipment.
  • Must have the ability to identify, inventory, issue and control a wide variety of parts, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in aircraft maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all special tools are maintained in good working condition, accurately inventoried and accounted for at all times.
  • Ensure all tools requiring calibration are taken care in accordance with Company and local operating procedures.
  • Issues all special tools to the maintenance personnel as required.
  • Ensure all tools are returned to the tool room at end of each shift.
  • Reports all missing and damaged tools immediately in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Coordinates material requests with the supply warehouse.
  • Maintains material control register of non-aircraft parts requisitions for the maintenance department and a log for all retrograde material returned to COMBS.
  • Assists during property audits / inventories.
  • Maintains pre-expended bin (PEB) of non-COMBS provided material in support of special tool and shop support materials based on usage and demand.
  • Tracks Due In From Maintenance (DIFM) items and reports to Management when an item is at 7 days DIFM.
  • Research parts for alternate part numbers, superessions, or next higher assemblies.
  • Inputs data into a computerized system to effectively control PEB material, special tool, and material issues.
  • Identify necessary requirements and develop HAZMAT program for site to follow in compliance with established local and federal standards to include ordering of HAZMAT as well as tracking shelf life and maintaining accurate inventories.
  • Ensure comprehensive implementation of the HAZMAT program in each area where materials are located and standards are being followed per established local and federal procedures.
  • Assist site personnel, as required in the day-to-day operations of the HAZMAT program.
  • Enforce safe work practices following local and federal standards.
  • Review and update site HAZMAT, AUL and MSDS records per local and federal standards ensuring they are maintained, and inventories are kept current with the latest changes.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work center.
  • Deals with the customer and vendors in courteous, professional and effective manner.
  • Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous waste, and tool control programs.
  • Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
  • Assists as directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of government / company owned equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
