About The Position

The Toolroom role manages tools, welding wire, consumables, and related inventory. The employee hands out and receives tools and welding wire, repairs tools, orders supplies, and maintains distribution logs. The role also handles, stores, moves, and distributes materials; stocks inventory; fulfills requisitions and work orders; and records items received or distributed. The position works under immediate supervision and follows established instructions and guidelines. It typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
May require previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
Knowledge of tools and consumables and commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
Ability to compare differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
Ability to make decisions based on measurable criteria.

Responsibilities

Hand out and receive tools and welding wire.
Repair tools.
Order consumables and tools and maintain a log of their distribution.
Store, remove, load, and unload materials from storage bins, pallets, and vehicles when they cannot be handled by material-handling devices.
Operate manual or mechanical devices and stock inventory shelves.
Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to move, gather, or distribute.
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, or color.
Move materials and supplies from the warehouse and prepare them for delivery.
Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or stock items.
Record material items received or distributed and, as applicable, maintain inventory records.
Perform routine housekeeping to maintain the work area.
Follow hazardous-waste handling guidelines.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Perform other duties as required.
