About The Position

This role involves building and/or repairing various types of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. The Toolmaker will assemble and test complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment, plan the setup and operation of machine tools, and set up and operate CNC equipment. The position requires the ability to fabricate parts and tools using metalworking machines and hand tools, work with close tolerances and fine finishes, perform duties on complex prototypes, and troubleshoot tools, fixtures, and equipment. The role also includes performing job responsibilities according to internal process specifications, participating in team initiatives, utilizing proper PPE and safety procedures, and reporting problems to the appropriate resource. Proactive work to improve efficiency and quality is expected, along with receiving guidance from experienced employees and abiding by GE behaviors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years’ machining experience.
  • Advanced understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required
  • Proficient in complex mathematical calculations involving decimals, ratios, and principles of trigonometry.
  • Prior working knowledge of machine shop operations.
  • Ability to use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages necessary to perform operations.
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and fine finishes.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • At least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
  • Ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years’ machine shop experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and/or repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
  • Assemble and test complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment.
  • Plan set up and operation of all types of machine tools, considering types of materials, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment.
  • Ability to set up and operate metal working machines (lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, and hand tools) to fabricate parts and tools.
  • Ability to use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages necessary to perform operations.
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and fine finishes.
  • Perform duties on complex prototypes or first-time builds.
  • Compliantly troubleshoot tools, fixtures, and equipment as necessary.
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
  • Participate in, and support, team initiatives.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
