This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State. The Toolmaker position at Janicki will include working with a team to manufacture and build molds and tools based off of customer supplied prints and data. Responsibilities will include machining details and assembling tools and also detailing assemblies from raw material to blueprint requirements. The Toolmaker will need to be able to locate, fit, and assemble manufactured and supplied parts in accordance with customer blueprints and specifications.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).
  • Candidate must agree to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One or more years of experience in related field may be substituted for education.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Blueprint interpretation including GD&T and shop math (decimals, basic trig, tolerances).
  • Knowledge of the Metric System.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fastening, and metrology.
  • Knowledge of material types and material processes.
  • Manual machining experience (conventional mills, lathes, surface grinders).
  • Laser tracking experience (ability to align, collect data, best fit, set details, create reports).
  • Must pass a preemployment drug test prior to starting employment.

  • College level or trade school education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints for tool assembly sequence, details, and assemblies.
  • Design and build tooling aids.
  • Fix out of tolerance tools or lead the effort.
  • Set-up and run lathes, milling and grinding machines to produce details and assemblies in accordance with blueprint tolerances and specifications.
  • Check and inspect all details, assemblies and finished product for conformance to blueprint dimensions.
  • Build and assemble tooling components including drill bars, edge bars, and lifting and clamping details.
  • Identify molds and tools per customer blueprint, tool and purchase order requirements using tags, engraving machines, stencils and painting.
  • Plumb and vacuum systems - verify integrity through pressure testing and leak checking.
  • Drill clearance holes – drill and tap holes, locate and drill precision holes.
  • Work with team to perform all tool making and manufacturing tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Communicate with supervisors, program managers, and engineers.
  • Any additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.
