About The Position

The Engineering Development Services team is looking for a Toolmaker II. This is a technical position requiring base knowledge experience in programming, setting up and running all types of machinery related to the machining industry. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and apply knowledge, experience, know-how, ingenuity and innovation to produce/manufacture required machined components. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Requirements

  • 2 year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of relevant experience
  • Base knowledge in programming using CAD/CAM software
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in the manufacture of gages, tools, fixtures, or related machining
  • Vertical CNC machining center experience including 3 axis
  • Manual machine experience including mills, lathes and grinders
  • Tool and Die apprenticeship certification or equivalent formal training
  • Understands cutting tool geometry and applications
  • Reads and comprehends advanced drawings with GD&T
  • Use surface plate, sine plates, and height gage to setup and verify work
  • Ability to conceptualize and sketch tools, fixtures, and gages
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Program and run various CNC vertical machining centers, manual grinders, lathes and secondary operation equipment
  • Prepare machine tool fixtures by analyzing drawings, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications
  • Use a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments to compute dimensions and determine tolerances
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions, revising designs, and problem solves as needed
  • Monitor and verify quality and safety according to Medtronic's standards
