Are you looking to build a strong career? Then we have an opportunity for you! We currently have an opportunity for a Tooling Technician located at our plant in Huntersville, NC. Your Role: The Tooling Technician is responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing tools and equipment to support efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role ensures tooling performance meets production demands by minimizing downtime, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The technician works closely with engineering and production teams while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to established processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance or tooling experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of manufacturing practices and tooling systems
  • Experience with hand tools, precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators), and material handling equipment (forklifts)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including flexibility to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, and modify tools, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges using technical drawings
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tooling and equipment to reduce production downtime
  • Ensure all tools meet quality standards and comply with company safety requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to resolve tooling issues and improve processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tool repairs, modifications, and inspections
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on proper tool usage and safety procedures
  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair tooling in accordance with company standards
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues affecting tooling performance
  • Set up, prepare, install, and adjust tooling for production operations
  • Operate a variety of hand tools and shop equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, drills, welding equipment)
  • Follow established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) requirements
  • Communicate issues, breakdowns, and shift carry-over items during Tier 1 or daily production meetings
