About The Position

The Tooling Technician is responsible for planning, building, repairing, and maintaining tools and tool components for inspection buy-off. This role may involve assisting higher-grade Technicians. The position requires the use of advanced shop mathematics, a variety of precision measuring instruments, and the ability to interpret blueprints. Moderate computer skills are also necessary, and all required training courses must be successfully completed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
  • Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics.
  • Requires the use of a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Requires the ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Moderate computer skills required.
  • Must successfully complete all required training courses.
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assembly operations necessary to construct, maintain, and repair tool and tool components.
  • Work from drawings and specifications to fabricate tools and tool components.
  • Uses a wide variety of fabrication processes for completion or modification of tools and tooling details.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools and manual machines including but not limited to milling machines and lathes.
  • Operates automated control pattern and profile manufacturing machines, including but not limited to, large scale additive manufacturing machines, waterjets, routers, and laser cutters.
  • Uses a variety of measuring instruments including but not limited to, micrometer, dial indicator, transit, level, scale, various calipers and height gauges, protractors, laser tracker, and portable coordinate measuring devices.
  • Performs deburring, blending, and grinding operations as required.
  • Responsible for the quality of own work.
  • Accountable for dimensional accuracy of own work.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
