As a Tooling Technician, you will support the Mobile Repair Team (MRT) and engine repair station operations by ensuring tooling and support equipment remains safe, serviceable, and mission ready. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish engine tooling, fixtures, adapters, lifting devices, gauges and other specialized support equipment used to support both field maintenance and repair station activities. You will support the complete tooling lifecycle by receiving, identifying, issuing, tracking, storing, packaging, and shipping serialized tooling while maintaining accurate records within company inventory and asset management systems. You will also support calibration activities by preparing tooling for calibration, processing returned tooling, identifying out-of-tolerance equipment, and assisting with the evaluation and disposition of nonconforming tooling. This position works closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and the Mobile Repair Team to ensure tooling is available when and where it is needed to support customer commitments. As repair station capabilities continue to expand, this role may also support advanced tooling inspection activities, including nondestructive testing (NDT), following successful completion of required training and qualifications. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, sound troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced engine repair environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of mechanical, maintenance, tooling, manufacturing, or aerospace experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an aerospace engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environment or Part 145 Repair Station.
  • Prior experience with calibration processes and serialized tooling management.
  • Prior experience performing repairs on specialized tooling or support equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, work instructions, and service bulletins.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certification or willingness to obtain qualifications.
  • Prior experience with SAP or other ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, and approved modifications on engine tooling and support equipment.
  • Support the Mobile Repair Team and repair station by ensuring that tooling is available, serviceable, and ready for deployment.
  • Receive, inspect, identify, issue, package, ship, receive, and store tooling while maintaining inventory accuracy and traceability.
  • Support calibration activities, including preparation, receipt, processing, and documentation of calibrated tooling.
  • Evaluate tooling for serviceability and identify tooling requiring repair, calibration, quarantine, or disposition.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, serialized tooling records, and inventory transactions within company systems.
  • Assist with investigations involving damaged, lost, or nonconforming tooling and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain tooling storage areas in accordance with safety, quality, and repair station requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling reliability, availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Tool kitting process to include organizing tooling by engine model, shadowing of toolboxes, creating inventory sheets.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor for best workflow, implementation of CORE principles for tooling, and align with our 6S/CORE principles.
  • Comply with all company, customer, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
