About The Position

Sets up and operates, with assistance, a variety of machines common to the trade by performing the following duties. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with injection molds, and proficiency in machining, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The Tooling Tech will be responsible for mold maintenance, repair, and construction, as well as assisting senior technicians and maintaining inventory.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprint readings
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to use advanced shop math
  • Computer experience required to maintain mold status
  • Ability to get along with coworkers and work in a team environment
  • Detail oriented
  • Minimum of 3 years experience being involved/hands on with Injection Molds
  • Strong Mechanical knowledge
  • 2 Years Crane experience a must
  • Machining capabilities is required (Manual Milling Machines, Manual Lathes and surface grinding)
  • Experience with Electrical and Hydraulics
  • Tig Welding is required
  • Must be able to lift at the minimum of at least 50lbs. off the ground
  • Must be able to work on feet for majority of an 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses where required and walk and climb stairs

Nice To Haves

  • Assistance from Sr. tooling tech or onsite toolmaker for certain tasks

Responsibilities

  • Operate crane and forklift safely
  • Disassemble, assemble, inspect, clean, and polish molds, using skill and care on critical surfaces
  • Disassemble and repair Hot Runner and hydraulic actuated molds, utilizing diagrams, blueprints, and electrical circuit test meters
  • Reassemble and rewire molds
  • Execute lathe, mill, and surface grinder machining operations
  • Perform mold repair work with hand tools, hand grinders, and stones under supervision
  • Rework and construct machine parts with hand tools
  • Weld spot molds and other projects as needed
  • Assist senior tooling tech or onsite toolmaker on set ups and operations
  • Fill out PM records
  • Understand PM schedule for timely scheduled maintenance
  • Maintain inventory of Tool Room PM components and supplies
  • Observe all health and safety requirements and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition
